When Microsoft announced that they’d do a monthly release schedule for the first year of a SQL Server version, a lot of eyes rolled, saying there’s no way they’d be able to keep up. Guess what: they’re doing it!

Cumulative Update 6 is out, just less than a month after CU5, and it includes a LOT of fixes:

  • Random access violations when you run a monitoring stored procedure
  • Access violations with adaptive joins
  • Automatic seeding failures
  • Non-optimal plan choices for values outside of the statistics range
  • Latch timeout on secondary, deadlock between read-only queries
  • CDC not working
  • Error when upgrading SSIS database
  • Leakage of sensitive data with dynamic data masking
  • Random masking did not mask BIGINT values correctly
  • Assertion failure when sys.dm_db_log_space_usage is run for a snapshot
  • Managed backups fail when database name has a trailing white space
  • False error reported by Test-SqlAvailabilityGroup commandlet
  • Parallel redo of a heap table on a secondary crashes with an access violation

Go read the fixes & download it. Enjoy!
